Fundraising Task Group Expression of Interest

Call for Volunteers

We are pleased to share details about volunteer opportunities available through the CNE Foundation’s new Fundraising Task Group. Thank you for your interest.

Volunteer Position

CNE Foundation Fundraising Task Group Member

The Canadian National Exhibition Foundation is in search of volunteers to serve on its inaugural fundraising committee: the “CNE Foundation Fundraising Task Group.” This committee will provide key fundraising support to the Foundation as it establishes its fundraising program in support of its mission and its vision: “Empowering community. Improving lives.” Fundraising Task Group members will serve as advocates and ambassadors for the CNEF, and use their influence and advocacy to introduce potential donors.

Background and Volunteer Opportunity Description

The Canadian National Exhibition Foundation is in search of volunteers to serve on its inaugural fundraising committee: the “CNE Foundation Fundraising Task Group.” The Fundraising Task Group is an interim initiative of the Foundation as it works toward establishing a fundraising board.

Building on the rich legacy of the iconic Exhibition, the CNE Foundation funds programs year-round to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals and the community in support of its vision: “Empowering community. Improving lives.” Key programs include the Foundation’s youth sports and arts programs, scholarships, community grants, and its newly launched Smiles on Faces program, which provides all-expense-paid visits to the CNE for vulnerable children and their families. In 2022, this was expanded to include displaced children from Ukraine, along with their families.

The registered charity was reinitiated in 2018 to help the Canadian National Exhibition Association – the group that produces the annual CNE event and serves as the parent organization of the CNE Foundation – with its goal of being an engaged year-round community partner.

Following two years of event cancellations – due to the pandemic – and the return to regular programming in 2022, the CNE Foundation Board of Directors has resumed its work to progress the organization, build its capacity and transition to a fundraising board. The Fundraising Task Group will provide fundraising support to the Foundation as it establishes its fundraising program in support of its mission and vision.

Fundraising Task Group members will serve as advocates and ambassadors for the CNEF, and use their influence and advocacy to introduce potential donors. Through their spheres of influence and combined connections, members will provide input in the identification and validation of key prospective donors. In conjunction with staff, members will participate in donor cultivation and solicitation activities.

Members may also wish to host or organize their own fundraising events or initiatives benefitting CNEF charitable programs.

The CNE Foundation seeks volunteers with a desire to advance the mission of the organization, and who possess proven expertise and experience in the area of nonprofit fundraising that will help advance the committee’s mandate. Fundraising Task Group volunteers could be considered for future CNE Foundation Board of Directors positions.
